How To Make Your 808 Sound Like Mike Will's

What's Up Fellow Producers & Beatmakers?

I know you probably asked yourself how Mike Will gets his 808's to sound so crunchy! I was trying to figure it out myself. The 808 sound before Mike Will made it came to the big industry scene, always seemed to sound the same way. But Mike made it sound so nice and crunchy (that's the best way I can explain it). After trying out all sorts of plugins and effects on the 808 I was almost at my whits end, and was going to give up trying to replicate that sound. Now I know what your gonna say "Replicate that sound? Only a fake producer would do that..." But in all honesty, all producers try to make something sound like another producer, that's how we learn from eachother, and become better than the next guy. There is no innovation without replication, let that one simmer in...

Now, lets get to the goodies. The plugin I found which can give you that crunchy clean sound on your 808 is called Decapitator from soundtoys.com, it can deliver that sound you want on your 808! Play around with it to see if you can come up with a new sound!

YOU CAN ALSO SIMPLY DOWNLOAD MIKE WILL 808 HERE > PRE-MIXED 808 WITH NICE CRUNCHY SOUND BY CJ BEATZ PRODUCTIONS.
I would suggest using E on the style presets at the bottom, then using the mix lever on 3. This gave me that sound I was looking for.

Good luck with this! Hope I was able to help you guys out a little. Happy beat-making!

Today's Mixtape Review : Gad-g - Couture Visions: The Collection Vol. 1

The track "VSOP" was a perfect fit for the introduction to the tape. Gad-g initially shows off his relaxed flow, and flows the beat rather nicely. The female vocalist at the end of the track really topped it off for me and immediately had me hooked, i wanted to hear more...

I liked the fact that Gad-g threw in a nice old school beat on the track "Bridge is Over Freestyle", but I think this track should have been further back in the play list in my opinion. I wanted to hear something more like the first track I heard.

From a production standpoint, it seems that Street Scott was the predominant choice for Gad-g. The track "Just a man" which was also produced by Scott was the best on the mixtape in my opinion.

Overall I feel that Gad-g really gave it his all on this tape, even though its the first time I hear of him, I can tell that he put in that work!

Jay Z vs. Kanye West

2013 so far has been a really big year for both Jay Z & Kanye, both releasing their brand new albums. On a creative level, with Kanye's Yeezus, he definitely explored very deep regions of his dark side in my opinion, he came over quite egocentric. But hey, Artists should have the chance to be themselves. My favorite track of the album would have to be "Blood on the leaves", I guess 808 & Heartbreaks stuck with me after all, this track sort of reminds me of that album.

Jay Z's Magna Carta to me was quite refreshing. He isn't acting as cocky as Kanye and his delivery is on point as always. My favorite track is definitely "Picasso Baby". It really has that nostalgic hip hop feeling that I grew up with. It hit home for me for real. From a producer's perspective I was surprised to find out that this track wasn't produced by Rick Rubin, but rather by Timbaland and J-Roc

While purchasing SEO services for your website can be rather expensive, there are plenty of other free ways to promote business. You should always think of innovative ways to advertise what you are selling. It could be as simple as mentioning your services in a conversation with someone, or even going up to strangers who you think might need what you are selling. What is leasing a beat? The difference between leasing and buying beats exclusively.

I get asked this question alot! - What is leasing a beat?

The term "lease" means - "A contract granting use or occupation of property during a specified period in exchange for a specified rent." In other words, I'm allowing you to use my beat for commercial use but with limitations and for a fee. Leasing beats is perfect if you are an up and coming artist and still want to be able to get high quality original music production for your mixtape or demo. Let's face it, not all of us have the type of money to only buy beats exclusively; which brings me into the explanation of an exclusive purchase of a beat. If you are a well established artist and you have the funds to purchase beats exclusively because you know will make a profit from your investments, by all means go a ahead and purchase the beat('s) exclusively. You should ask yourself, if you are intending on using the beat('s) to make a profit or just put out free music. If you are just putting out free mixtapes to create some buzz, there is no need to buy beats exclusively. Save your money just simply lease a beat. Many producers online are providing beat buyers with all sorts of agreements to use their beats. Today you can find thousands of hip hop instrumentals and beats all over the internet. Good luck out there finding the right beat for your next project! Also consider visiting: http://cjbeatz.com to lease or buy your next beat! All the best, Chris J. CJ Beatz Productions www.cjbeatz.com
